DYNAMICS OF LISTENING TO AND OBEYING GOD 3
LOVE
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 KJV
Herein lies the dynamics of walking with, listening to and obeying God. If you don’t agree with God, you can’t listen to Him or hear Him. GOD IS LOVE. Yesterday we had an exercise that put your name everywhere the nature of Love is expressed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. If you did it, you will have it tough to assume some attributes of love. Different names and different events would have come up in your heart, something like “I can’t be kind to so and so” or “I can’t forgive so and so”. You see, if you can’t be kind to Him, then you can’t hear God concerning your issue with the person because you and God are not on the same page. When you are on the page of love with God no matter how bad and painful the issue is, you can hear Him guide you. The first thing to learn about Love is that Love is patient. We are in a fast track generation. God is not like that. He does not change. ““I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” Malachi 3:6 NIV
Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. I want to emphasize “ALL”. Whether deserving or not. So if you refuse to be kind in any situation, you cannot hear God even if He is shouting. Take each attribute of Love one by one and see how you fit into the space. This has been a blessing to me in my journey with Christ and it has kept me in perfect peace. Whenever I weigh a relationship or situation on the scale of love and decide to stay in love’s lane, I am guided right by God. I also find His strength and support when it gets difficult.
PRAY: Dear Lord, I open my heart to You, fill me with love. It is not easy without Your strength, help me Lord Jesus.
