BETWEEN THE LAW AND THE PERSON

“Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: In spiritual books I have read, I find most of them with nuggets of spiritual laws that actually work to produce physical results no matter who operates them. Take for example “Give and it will be given to you. The measure with which you give is what will be used for you.” The authors often teach these laws without mentioning God or Christ. They refer to them as laws of the universe and the universe rewards a person according to the law he operates or breaks. There is no personal touch in living the Law.

I consider man and I see that we cannot fulfill all the laws. Jesus was the only man who lived without breaking any law or sinning. I keep meditating on how then can a person be free of the consequences of breaking the law?

The solution is in the freedom that personal connection gives. Jesus through His life, death and resurrection opened the way for the whole of mankind to have a personal relationship with God as Father. People in relationships have mutual respect for themselves that makes them fulfil the law towards each other. A relationship also breeds compassion and mercy. The Law holds but mercy makes punishment tolerable because of love. The Law is rigid but the person who has lived the Law knows the limits of human ability to live the Law so He is able to be a human advocate when he misses the Law. The Person of the Law is better to relate with than a rigid Law without personal feeling. The owner of a pet is more merciful or compassionate with a pet that offends than with a person who just sees the pet as another animal without any other emotional attachment. Do you have a Father child relationship with God in Christ? If you don’t, do so today and have God’s strength to live the Law effortlessly out of Love than rule.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You God for Jesus who became a sacrifice for us that we may escape the eternal punishment for breaking the Law. Help me to surrender my life to Jesus in a love relationship.
