BATTLE FOR THE TONGUE

“All of us often make mistakes. But if a person never makes a mistake in what he says, he is perfect and is also able to control his whole being.” ‭‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ‭GNT‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The battle for the control of the tongue is real. I want to call it the real spiritual battle. The battle is between the word of God and every other word. Whoever will win this battle must know the word of God. It is not just knowing the word of God mentally but knowing it with conviction in your heart. Just as you have a physical frame for your physical body, you must have a frame based on the word of God for yourself in your heart. Your word must always be patterned on the word of God that you hold in your heart. That is the battle. The world presents itself to you in ideas, and feelings and things you perceive with your five senses. If you affirm what the world presents to you as truth and you keep affirming it, then you are judged by what you affirm. Listen to Jesus; “In fact by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭37‬ ‭EHV‬‬. Your word justifies or condemns you. The Pharisees and Herodians knew this when they wanted to trap Jesus by His  words. Read Mark 12:13: Matthew 22:15 and Luke 11:24.

When I realised that the battle is for my tongue, I shifted my labour not to face the devil in spiritual  warfare but to control my tongue at all times which is an ongoing job. Your tongue makes you perfect or it defiles you. We shall have an exercise in forming a mental picture of who we are by the word of God in two areas tomorrow by God’s grace.

Today, look at the word of God in two areas of your life that bother you and paint a picture of the word of God about them in your heart. Say the picture of the word to yourself throughout today. 

I pray that the Lord will make you steadfast in confessing His word to every situation no matter what the situation presents in Jesus name.
