CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS

““My complaint is with God, not with people. I have good reason to be so impatient.”  Job 21:4 NLT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The book of Job has a lot to teach us in navigating life turns and bends. Job had a good life by whatever standard we can use even now. He had wealth more than everyone of his time, had children and was healthy yet in all these fortunes, he had one reference point: GOD. His only concern was that his children or himself should not offend God. Even God testified that he was a righteous man. Then a turn around for the worst came out of no fault of His. He lost everything including his health and was left with only his life. In his pains and troubles, he still maintained his focus on God. Even when his friends doubted his integrity, he still maintained his reverence for and focus on God. What a wide difference from us nowadays! We know the devil and focus more on him than God. Jesus counseled us that our eyes must be single. “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Matthew 6:22 KJV. Job had a single eye on God. He saw God in everything and was able to reason with Him. He lived in the knowledge that “for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16-17 KJV This is what everyone must believe to relate successfully with God. This is the foundation of faith. The life of Job did not end in misery but much better than his beginning. See God in everything and direct all your queries as well as joys to Him and He will give your life direction.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for showing me that all things exist in You for Your purpose. This is the height of surrender to You. Help me to know this and live by the knowledge. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you can (I choose to see and focus on God alone in all situations for it is in Him all things exist for His purpose.”
