CONSIDER CAREFULLY
“Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”” Luke 8:18 NIV
HAPPY DAY TO YOU: When you realise and believe that you have a role to play in the way your life will turn out, then you will appreciate the importance of how to live to attain your desired life. There is a phenomenon that goes around and gets to everyone that has ears. It is called INFORMATION. Information flies around. Public audio and visual gadgets, social media, entertainment and information fliers distributed free of charge etc. move around and get to your ears because they are open. They have no gates yet they play an important part in the quality of life of a person.
For this reason, Jesus explicitly warns us to CONSIDER CAREFULLY how we listen. In Mark 4:24, He also said “consider carefully what you hear”. The difference between hearing and listening is that hearing is passive and involuntary while listening is active, requiring attention, focusing, understanding and interpreting. So it is possible to hear and not listen. If you hear without listening, the information comes in through one ear and goes out through the second. If you listen however, the information comes through your ears, stays in your brain and you give it attention, focus on it, strive to understand and interpret it.
I have noticed that the world system uses all modes of advertising, audible and visual to force us to listen and not just hear. They appeal to our need for pleasure to make us listen, they use fear to drive their points home and make us listen and listen well. Once you begin to listen, then you are given more of what you listen to.
I leave you with this today to think about and consider and tomorrow, we shall explore how this affects the quality of life that one has.
I pray today that the Holy Spirit will open your understanding and teach you to be mindful of what you hear and how you listen.
