DANGERS OF DISTRACTION
“As the king passed by, he cried to the king and said, “Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, ‘Guard this man; if for any reason he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’ While your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” And the king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be; you yourself have decided it.” He said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’ ””

GOOD DAY. It is very important to know the dangers of distraction so that you don’t give room to it at all under any guise. Let us break down the story above to make it relevant to us for now. To get the full gist of this story, read from verse 20 to 43.
First, the person that went to war and brought a king captive is your need or demand or vision.
The captive you are to keep is your imagination. Your imagination of when the dream or need is fulfilled. You need to hold on to it, feel it no matter what you see or hear so that it does not escape. There is no plan B. This is the difficult part to getting your dream or imagination fulfilled. No matter how long it takes and challenges or happenings that tell you cannot get it, keep your imagination. Don’t waste your thought or attention on distractions.
If you keep busy here and there with distractions, you lose the imagination and you will suffer the consequences of losing it.
This is the danger of distraction. It keep as you moving here and there until your imagination slips from you. I experience it in both small and big demands. Even in this everyday writing that I do. Any day I allow my attention to be divided, writing becomes cumbersome but when I am focussed on the inspiration that comes and settle to write, thoughts from God come that bless people. So you need to master the art of keeping your focus and doing away with distractions.
PRAY: Dear Lord, I ask for forgiveness and mercy in the consequences of any vision I have lost due to distractions.
