DOES FAITH DENY SIGHT?

“So we are always full of courage. We know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord’s home. For our life is a matter of faith, not of sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 GNT

GOOD DAY TO YOU: Faith and sight have been two topics of controversy for as long as we have  human history. Sight is what you see with your five senses that science can prove. It follows human logic and intellect. It is what I call ‘the Eve consideration’ before eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Genesis 3:6. To live by sight is to live by human reasoning.

Faith on the other hand is the original state of man’s life in the garden of Eden. It is  knowing and accepting the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil but refusing to eat its fruit. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil they became aware of their independence from God and started using their free will under their own control. The breath of God that made them a living soul was still in them but they saw their life from their own perspective and not God’s.

Whoever still chooses to depend on this breath of God to tutor him from inside lives by FAITH. That intuition is called faith. Faith is not religion. It comes from whatever instructs or directs you from within.

Sight is fed by human knowledge of good and bad while Faith is fed by the word of God (whoever you take God to mean to you). I choose Jesus Christ as God of my own life. The more of both that you know, the more they control your life. This is why the man of sight will go to school and specialise in a particular field and do exploits the more he puts his knowledge to practise. Likewise, a man of Faith, will feed his soul with the word of God, meditate on it and become instructed. The more he lives by the instruction, the more his faith grows. Conclusion is that Faith does not deny sight nor does Sight deny faith. Each person decides how he wants to live and study it very well to become proficient in its use for living. Each gives its own fruit.

Today’s Exercise: Life is a choice between living by faith and by sight. Each person chooses what he lives by but he must feed his choice. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you remember “I make my choice between Sight and Faith, and train myself in my choice today and always”.

  1. To live and depend solely on ‘sight’ is to be carnally minded and to be led by faith is to be spiritually minded.
