ENJOYING HEAVEN ON EARTH

““Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10 HCSB

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Yesterday, we saw that one of the benefits of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is that “God raised us up together with Christ [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 2:6 AMP This is a great benefit because we have dual citizenship for we are citizens of earth and heaven. The problem is that man is more familiar with the earthly kingdom and the way of thinking here than that of heaven. Thought patterns in the two kingdoms are completely different but the good thing is that the thought pattern of heaven lived here on earth prevails over earthly one. This puts an obligation on man to know the thought patterns of heaven. Jesus came to teach us the thought patterns of heaven by His parables and life.
The first thought pattern that makes man overcome the basic challenge we have here on earth which is what to eat and drink and how to dress ourselves and meet other life demands is this; “Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” Matthew 6:31-33 AMP
Your main preoccupation is to seek His way of doing it right, His attitude and character. Then God provides everything that we need. He leads you to what to do to get the provision He has for you. This is the first basic principle of life in heaven. SEEK THE KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Said in plain terms, do things here as God wants it done then God gives you heaven’s reward here on earth. Tomorrow, we shall look at how king David lived out this principle and got the reward.

Today’s Exercise: In science, understanding the first principle and its application resolves any problem. The first principle of heaven is to seek Your kingdom and Your righteousness, teach me how to seek Your kingdom here on earth. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you can “I seek God’s kingdom first and all other things are added to me”.
