HOPE

📖

“My soul faints for Your salvation, But I hope in Your word.”

Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭81‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: A man told his son that if he would study and pass JAMB, he would manage and pay his fees. The boy knew the weak financial position of his father but still hoped in his word that his father would pay his bills in the university. He studied and gained admission but his father could not meet up at the pace of his friends’ fathers. He kept holding to his father’s words, replaying it in his mind all the time and preparing as much as he could for resuming with his friends. A day to the closing date for paying the acceptance fees, nothing still happened. Doubt came to his mind, his friends were pitying or mocking him, but he kept repeating the father’s words (his hope) to himself and seeing this hope before him always. In the morning of the closing date, his father called him and gave him the acceptance fee.

Look at the earthly father whose life was not under his control yet his son held on to his word till the end. How much more God whose word never fails and who never changes. 

The father’s love made the boy to hold on knowing he will not fail but deny himself all things to fulfil his word to his son. God is more faithful and powerful than a human father. If your hope is rooted in God’s promise, then know that He will never fail.

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. No matter the tribulation on the journey to fulfilment of hope, it will only better our character in appropriating hope in future. Again today, check your hope to see the root of it. If anchored in the word of God, it will never fail because of the word of God. Wait for it, living in the word of your hope like it is done already. Rejoice in your hope.

Today’s Exercise: Thank you God for your love, for thinking good thoughts towards me. Forgive me for not trusting you. Help me to trust you from now on and keep your word in my heart and mouth always. Say to yourself as often as possible (I hold on firmly to the word of God and dig my root deep in it always knowing God never fails.)
