HOW DO YOU THINK?

📖

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7a  NKJV

💭

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I wanted to understand thinking so that I can be a better manager or controller of my thoughts as I understood that the thoughts of my heart determine who I am. I found this necessary because I observed that dropping or holding a thought is not always easy for me and it is the same with most people I speak with. I also observe that I and most people who are Christians quote a lot of bible promises which we hardly enjoy. I found that the key to enjoying these promises lies in if you can get and hold them as the thought of your heart. When I checked the dictionary for the meaning of “think”, I found many definitions but the one that resonates with how to think is “hold something or someone in the mind long enough to become a belief”. This happens by repeating it to yourself long enough until it completes a complex process within the brain where information is received, processed, and used to form thoughts, memories, and decisions etc.  Some common synonyms of think are conceive, envisage, envision, fancy, imagine, and realize. While all these words mean “to form an idea of,” think implies the entrance of an idea into one’s mind with or without deliberate consideration or reflection. While not considering the complex scientific jargons, the brain sends signals to the whole system of man to work out any idea that enters it. To think is to consider or impress an idea on the brain. This is why faith (of Christ) comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 We unconsciously repeat information we hear often to ourselves until it gets in the brain and we begin to manifest it. When an idea gets rooted in our mind enough, it becomes difficult to pull down. It takes speaking  the word of God to myself long enough to hold the former idea captive to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. To conclude my understanding of “think” in the common man’s language, information is received by the brain either consciously or unconsciously and it is thus  repeated to myself many times. (“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.” Deuteronomy 30:14 NKJVThe brain processes it and it sends signals to my whole system to fulfil it. This is why I am instructed to guard my heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23. Today, observe what you speak to yourself about the situations that present themselves to you. That will give you an idea of your rooted thoughts or beliefs. Tomorrow, we will look at the case of Hannah and how the words spoken to herself changed her life.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for this understanding of the word “think”. Help me to understand more clearly so I can do it. Say to yourself ten times today “I become aware of my inner decision making beliefs and change them to the word of God where need be.”

  1. Sister Bose (YOURS FOR EVER ) Tody’s topic is in line with my tought over years. That a repeated words to oneself if you dont care it will come to pass.
I have a testimony on that.
One of my family friend son always says that I will stab you to people in the house.
Anytime I visit the family I always caution this boy.
Until one day I visited the family , and Spirit of God told me to talk to the father of family not to get involved in the matter between this boy and his wife who lived with them.
But the father did not hear me.
So one morjing issue came in between this boy and his wife.
The fathet kow went in to settle the rift. But this boy took a plank that has a long nail and wanted to hit his father on the head.
It was a tenant that was around that saved the father.
Yes sister you are right eith this topic.
I pray that God will give you mote inspiration to see more in Jesus Christ Mighty name amen. Sorry for my ong episode. Shalom
