HOW TO SELF MOTIVATE (1)

“I defy the armies of Israel today! Send me a man who will fight me!” When Saul and the Israelites heard this, they were terrified and deeply shaken. As soon as the Israelite army saw him, they began to run away in fright. “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!”” 1 Samuel 17:10-11, 24, 32, 34-35, 37 NLT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: we face Goliaths in our life’s journey from time to time and we all hide in our shells like the children of Israel did each time Goliath came out. Fear is our first and easy response to challenges. With fear, we become disoriented and don’t know what to do. We think of the worst happening and we need to self motivate ourselves from within to stand and move on to face the challenge. A rehearsal of God’s help and faithfulness in the past motivated me from within to hold me up and keep me going when I get crippled by any challenge. Keeping a record of God’s faithfulness and help in our lives is a very helpful motivational tool in the face of challenges, especially crippling ones.

Today’s Exercise: Dear Lord, I find myself in a situation where I have done all I can and nothing seems to work. I look up to You for help. I remember Your help in the past and I know that You will show up. Help me Lord before I faint in Jesus name. Say to yourself (I know my redeemer lives and He will stand up for me always.)
