HOW TO PRACTICE TRUSTING IN GOD
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB1995
GOOD DAY. I read a book some years back and it was the beginning of my learning to trust the Lord. The book is PRACTICE THE PRESENCE OF GOD by Brother Lawrence. I did what he said for some time and I fell back to trusting myself again. Since then, I had gone through the cycle of trusting in the Lord and trusting in the arm of flesh several times until recently when I finally decided that I will trust in the Lord all the time and in all things.
What did brother Lawrence do? He simply practiced being in the presence of God every time. He imagined that God was beside Him and he discussed with God on every occasion. He would ask God to help him with his secular job as he was deformed and in ways he could not explain, he would do his job even better than if he was not deformed.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 NASB1995. The Word was God and it is simply by the Word that we relate with Him and He with us. His words have power to perform. Hear how David puts it ‘When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”’
Psalms 27:8 NASB1995. It takes a lot of practice however to say “I trust in the Lord and until He speaks, I will not move”.
I have found in recent happenings in my life that it takes a lot of power to resist trusting in my understanding and human understanding to wait for God to speak. It is as you follow His instruction that you trust in Him. When you are waiting for Him to give you His understanding, simply say so to Him because He is with you. He promised never to leave or abandon us. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 ESV
God will never leave nor forsake His people.
Today, practice the presence of God with you. He is with you so relate with Him
