IN SYNC WITH LOVE 2

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:44-45 NKJV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Here is another major huddle while syncing with LOVE. It is loving your enemy. I don’t know about you but if someone goes by the identity of my enemy, it is hard to love the person. I don’t curse or wish them evil but at least I see loving an enemy a bad waste of affection. It took me years to reconcile with the fact that I have to love my enemies in obedience to Christ. But after I started practicing it, I found joy and true freedom in living.

LEARNING TO LOVE MY ENEMY: 

This is what I did and I still do. I prayed earnestly that I am willing to love anyone I considered my enemy. I labelled them enemies because of the hurtful things they had said to or about me and their behaviour toward me. Then I said to myself that any evil that they plan for me can only come to pass if it is God’s will, otherwise it will amount to nothing. I pray that God should forgive me for anything that is making them to be the instruments of His anger. I use this scripture as anchor; “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7 NKJV

I then start praying for the enemy as I would pray for myself. It is heavy and quite challenging at the start but as you do it, it becomes easier. I find strength in the scripture that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 I bless those who curse me. I do good to those who hate me. I notice that as I do this, I have no fear of anything they think or do against me. I also notice that our paths don’t cross naturally again and when we do meet, they become more cordial. Some of them even confessed that they did not know I am as pleasant, they had a different impression about me. Overcoming evil with good is real because I have experienced it. Sometimes, your enemy would have worked out his defeat before you meet should you have to cross each other’s path.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord that I can speak of my fears to you over loving my enemies and You showed me the antidote that once my ways are pleasing to You, You will make my enemies be at peace with me. Say to yourself ten times “I choose to live to please the Lord always and He makes my enemies at peace with me”.
