KEY TO GETTING YOUR DESIRES FROM GOD

“Delight yourself in the Lord, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 AMP

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I am sure that you have desires that you want granted. The need for granted desires fuels the search for the actions to take. This led me to search the bible. My heart was led to check the dictionary meaning of delight as a starting point because it is as I delight in God that He grants my desires. Let us go to the Oxford dictionary meaning to see the meaning of delight:
1️⃣💭
1 Delighting in someone involves actively finding joy in a presence, (do you find joy in the presence of God e.g. while reading your Bible or in fellowship or prayer?)
2️⃣💭
2 appreciating them for who they are, and expressing that admiration through intentional actions, sincere compliments, and engaged listening. (Directing this to God is praising and worshiping God not for what He does but for who He is.)
3️⃣💭
It means building them up, celebrating their successes, and making them feel valued, often by exceeding their expectations and choosing to spend quality time together. (This means evangelism; talking about Jesus and His works in your life to others. And invite others to know Him. You also spend quality time with Him in your heart.)

Ways to Delight in Someone
Express Active Gratitude: Regularly tell them what you appreciate about them, specifically noting their character, and actions. (Give thanks always. Tell God how good He is and what you appreciate in Him.)
4️⃣💭
Show Genuine Interest: Listen to their stories, opinions, and experiences to understand their heart and inner world. (Listen to God in the bible, in teachings that are bible based, check whatever you are taught in the bible and think of Him at all times.)
5️⃣
Celebrate Them: Actively celebrate their wins and support them during challenging times. (Testify of the goodness of God in your life. As you live to please Him, let others see His goodness in your life. Then encourage others in their down times because He lives in them)
6️⃣💭
Delighting in someone often requires shifting focus from one’s own frustrations to intentionally appreciating the other person’s value. (This is quite tough except you really delight in God. Too many negative things happen that affects everybody alike. But the person who delights in God still maintains his stand for Him and still sees His goodness at low times as in high times.) I leave you to go to your dictionary and apply the meaning you find there to your relationship with God.

I have practiced some of these things and I testify that by them, I have had my desires given to me.
