‘AM NOT ALLOWED’
“Go to the Rechabite clan and invite them to meet you in one of the side rooms of the temple. When they arrive, offer them a drink of wine.” So I went to Jaazaniah, the leader of the clan, and I invited him and all the men of his clan. I set out some large bowls full of wine together with some cups, and then I said to the Rechabites, “Have some wine!” But they answered: No! The ancestor of our clan, Jonadab son of Rechab, made a rule that we must obey. He said, “Don’t ever drink wine or build houses or plant crops and vineyards. Instead, you must always live in tents and move from place to place. If you obey this command, you will live a long time.” Our clan has always obeyed Jonadab’s command. To this very day, we and our wives and sons and daughters don’t drink wine or build houses or plant vineyards or crops. And we have lived in tents,

GOOD DAY: Yesterday, we talked about our daily bread. In the world today, we have many ways that people use to seek their daily bread. Not all open ways are permissible. My grandson says ‘Am not allowed’ when offered some foods no matter how hungry he is or how yummy the food looks. The Rechabite knew what their forefathers forbid them to do and they obeyed. For this, they were blessed. There are actions that God forbids us from taking even when they come to us on a platter of gold. To embezzle money to be rich because you can do it is not allowed. Apart from generic things forbidden by the Ten Commandments, there are specifics that God will tell you in your specific situation. Try and stay off the NOT ALLOWEDS as much as possible no matter how justified they look.. prophet Samuel said, “Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
