LESSON IN THINKING 1
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. [John 14:27] Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].” Philippians 4:6-8 AMP
GOOD DAY: It is a tough lesson but if one can learn it, it pays off in the long run. There are two possible ways of thinking, the first is anxiety or worry about anything and everything. We know how to worry and be anxious. When we have no money, we think about the bills to be paid, the consequences of not paying on time, we think about how to feed the children or even feed ourselves, we think of paying for transportation and we really enter into the feeling of lack, sadness and if care is not taken, depression can result. The same thing happens when people become sick. They think of the worst prognoses of the disease. Fear first sets in and the more information they have about the disease, the deeper the fear becomes the more it brings other negative feelings until loss of the survival instincts of the body are destroyed and death could result. Clearly this pattern of thinking does not help anyone.
I will leave you with this today so you can do the following exercise and know yourself.
Exercise: 1 Write in your diary any challenge that you are facing now. 2. Write out your thoughts concerning the challenge. 3. Write out how it makes you feel. 4. Write out how clear or confused you are as you think about your thoughts and way forward. 5. Write out any other thing that comes to your mind. 6. Try and draw in your journal how thick the wall that separates you from what you desire is. Put your desire on one side of the wall and yourself on the other side. Keep this and tomorrow, we will look at the second way of thinking.
PRAY: Dear Lord, I thank You that You are aware of my challenges and You want me to see how clearly it has affected me so I can see it the way you do and with you I can overcome it. Help me Lord to be open with You and comfort me.
