We all try to figure things out ourselves as that became our default setting since the time of the fall of man in the garden of Eden. Passages like “my thoughts are higher than your thoughts” were vague to me and were mere words I am not meant to understand. However, when I understood that I must be renewing my mind with the word of God so that I can discern His will, Romans 12:2 it became meaningful and I tried to understand how to renew my mind.
Casual reading of the bible does not renew the mind. It just passes as information. Mind renewing happens when you talk to yourself with the word of God over time. That is when the word of God dwells richly in me and I can discern the will of God in any situation. For example, we self talk about our challenges all the time; I acknowledge the challenge (removing denial) but self talk the word of God that addresses it. If my body feels sick, I self-talk “I was healed by the stripes of Jesus, my food and water are blessed by God and He takes disease out of me”. As these scriptures enter and fill my mind, I am instructed as to what to do. This way, I have not been struggling to figure things out in my own power for sometime now but by the power of God the Holy Spirit that dwells in me. This is what I do that has given me peace that passes human understanding in the midst of storms.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for letting me know how I can discern and do Your will. Help me to fill my mind with Your word richly. Say to yourself ten times “I fill my mind with the word of God and my mind is renewed to know God’s will”.

This is a real eye opener. Selt-talking God’s word for the mind-transformation. Until every human on earth realises that we are here on this planet for God’s purposes and our own selfish and greediness; we go nowhere.
