LIVING IN THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

“He answered me: “This is the LORD’s word to Zerubbabel: Neither by power, nor by strength, but by my spirit, says the LORD of heavenly forces.”” Zechariah 4:6 CEB
HAPPY DAY TO YOU: We begin a series on living in the Spirit of God so that our lives could be as successful as those of saints of old and Jesus Christ our mentor. The word to Zerubbabel is also to you and me while facing the challenges in our lives that we keep struggling with without success even after claiming the promises of God. After I went through some series of prayers based on God’s promises that were not answered the way I wanted, I became inquisitive to know the way to touch God so that He would make His mind clear to me on any issue. I want to know which promises of God are directly for me in any particular situation. I began to wonder about Jesus telling us that His Father was with Him always yet He still said His Father is above. I kept praying and reading books and the Holy Spirit kept directing books of those who had had the same experiences to my path. I discovered that the problem of mankind is as it has been since the fall, is still today and will be tomorrow until we are reunited with Christ.
What is this problem? It is how Eve came to the conclusion of eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and giving it to Adam who was with her.
“The woman saw that the tree was beautiful with delicious food and that the tree would provide wisdom, so she took some of its fruit and ate it, and also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.” Genesis 3:6 CEB
It is human reasoning outside God. Whenever man can perceive the thought or instructions of God and obeys it, the Spirit of God works the work. This is why God said to Zerubbabel that not by human power or might will the job be done but by His Spirit. Jesus said it clearly when He spoke to His disciples thus:
“Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I have spoken to you I don’t speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me does his works.” John 14:10 CEB
The Father who dwells in Him does His work. Jesus heard His Father, spoke His Father’s word and His Father did His work. We will be practicing hearing God and share our experiences as He does His work in our lives.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord Jesus for making the way for me to be a child of God. Teach me to listen to Him. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you can “I am a child of God and I listen to and obey Him always”.
