“You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too. “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.” Matthew 23:26-28 NLT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: At first, the passage above may seem to be directed to religious leaders but when we look closely, it is for everybody who is an ambassador of Christ. It has to do with our mental climate; the inside of our hearts. The thing I learnt a long time ago is that we are hardly aware of the world or climate inside us. We have so perfected the art of finger pointing that we become strangers to ourselves. How you experience life is a direct result of your mental climate.
Your mental climate consists of your thought pattern, perception and motive. If your mental climate is toxic, you will feel life and others from a toxic perspective even when everything looks good on the outside. When you look at a mirror, you see what your face looks like. Likewise, when you look at the word of God, you will see your mental climate. Here is the mirror of the natural man’s mental climate. “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19–21 NLT
If you look into your mind, you will find a couple of these traits as the climate of your mind. Some are dominant while others pop up as occasion demands. The Good news is that you can renew your mental atmosphere once you notice it. We will consider the mental atmosphere that the Holy Spirit gives man tomorrow.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You God for giving me Your word that makes me see my heart. Strengthen me to wash myself in your word until I am clean. Say to yourself ten times today and as often as you can”I look at myself in the mirror of God’s word daily and renew my mind with it.
