NEXT TO HIS SKIN

“As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, “My Lord the king, help! ” He answered, “If the Lord doesn’t help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor or the winepress? ”…When the king heard the woman’s words, he tore his clothes. Then, as he was passing by on the wall, the people saw that there was sackcloth under his clothes next to his skin.” 2 Kings 6:26-27, 30 HCSB

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: This story is found in 2 Kings chapter 6 and you can read it at your leisure. Whatever the world story is, it affects everyone – both the leader and the led alike. People cover themselves with various clothes but next to their skin is the effect of the world situation as it applies to them for which they too are seeking help. This is how God has made it so that everyone will turn to Him and His knowledge will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. No one is free from God’s universal plan for the earth to know Him. This is what He says;

“Woe to him who dishonestly makes wealth for his house to place his nest on high, to escape from the reach of disaster! Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and founds a town with injustice! Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing? For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s glory, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:9, 12-14 HCSB

This is the time for everyone to seek and find the knowledge of God because it is from Him alone that help can come forth for each of us to fulfill His purpose which is;  

“Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 NLT

Let whatever the situation that is next to your skin lead you to seek the Lord from whom all help come. Acknowledge and believe in Him, call on Him and He will answer you, see you through and you will give thanks to Him. Only God is limitless in power and from Him comes all help.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for showing me that outward appearance is only a covering for man to hide his true state. Help me to turn to You for help. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you can “I will come to the Lord always for help. He alone is limitless in power”.
