January 26. Leviticus ch 11-14
OLD VERSION AND NEW VERSION; ALL IN THE HEART
““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28 NASB1995
GOOD DAY: Two positions are mentioned here by Jesus concerning the same issue. The outer position defined by the five senses and the inner position defined by the heart the seat of imagination. Interestingly, Jesus pointed to the heart or imagination as the root cause of all vices. He also alluded to the heart as the causative of things we see in this scripture
“But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”” Matthew 15:18-20 NASB1995
To show that the heart is the cause of everything He said
“You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.” Matthew 12:34-35 NASB1995. Jesus shows that imagination of the heart is the potent cause of all good and evil. If you look at it, all inventions come from the heart.
There is nothing that you see in the physical world that did not start from the heart. So to change anything in your world, you need to either imagine something new or rewrite the old in your imagination. Many people don’t find it easy to create images or scenes in their minds but words form images. When I say goat, an image forms in your mind. When you read or say something to yourself over and over, an image forms in your mind. The image gives you joy so you hold the image and joy for as long as you can and as often as you can. The image is the substance of what is not seen.
PRAY: Dear Lord, teach me to cleanse my heart of bad thoughts and imaginations.
