only the living

ONLY THE LIVING

“The grave and those buried there cannot praise you. Neither the realm of death nor those who enter it can give you thanks or hope for your faithfulness. It’s the living who thank you as I do today. One generation makes your faithfulness known to the next.”

Isaiah 38:18-19

GOOD DAY: I look at thanksgiving to God and the realm of death or actually dying. Thanking God is actually a sign of life. Most Christians know the verse ‘in all things give thanks’ 1 Thessalonians 5:18 But a dead person cannot praise God to the hearing of the living nor can the one in the realm of death cannot praise God but ask questions and complain. We all know those who are dead. They can neither thank nor complain. Those in the realm of death are in two categories. The first category is: “But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.” 1 Timothy 5:6 KJV. They are the ones who live in pleasure and forget God. A young friend of mine who believes in God so much contacted me three months after coming to Britain that it is easy to forget God in the country. Life is so comfortable, he said, though you have to work harder to get money for the pleasures of life. So it is like if one is not careful, when you have the pleasures of life, it is difficult to thank God. You either don’t remember Him or you think your energy has made wealth for you. So the person living in pleasure lives in the realm of death although he is living. Solomon puts it this way:  “Remove far from me vanity and lies: Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And take the name of my God in vain.” Proverbs 30:8-9 KJV

Those who are sick too live in the realm of death and find no reason to thank God.

If you know you are alive spirit, soul and body, then give thanks to the Lord from your heart.

PRAY: Dear Lord, I thank you for making me alive today. Help me me to thank you at all times in all things.
