HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I woke up with the thought of prayer on my mind. It left an impression on my mind to study Prayer.
What is prayer? Prayer I have understood to be the Creature Calling on or discussing with the Creator. This is the meaning of prayer that I am focussing on as the word prayer has many other uses. Prayer is the most powerful and versatile force on earth. All inventors from Einstein to modern inventors do believe in and actually pray but do not make a public show of it. Now, let us see this practice that has endured since the beginning of human understanding till now that Jesus even asked us to do continually without giving up.
“And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Ē´nosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord.” Genesis 4:26 NKJV

Not that Adam and God were not discussing before but it was God who initiated the discussions. The first record of man initiating discussions with God was recorded in Genesis 4:26 and it has continued since then. Even when rulers tried to stop it, men still prayed. Read the book of Daniel. Prayer like God is beyond science. Science can only grasp what it can measure with its instruments but that cannot be done with God and prayer so there have been controversies about prayer. While reading the book PRAYER IS GOOD MEDICINE: HOW TO REAP THE BENEFITS OF PRAYER by Larry Dossey, a medical doctor, I saw the need to deepen our faith in the power of prayer as without prayer, nothing really works. When you begin to pray, whatever method you use as per your religion, the results that you get will show you whether your method is good for you or not. People of bible times prayed in various forms and each nation and person eventually decided what way they would use to connect the Creator depending on their experience.

I leave you today to begin to pray earnestly with attention to what prayer does to you and answers to your prayers.

Today’s Exercise: Thank you Lord for drawing my attention to prayer again. Lord Jesus, teach me to pray as You taught Your disciples. Say to yourself as often as possible, (I pray at all times and in all things. I always talk with God.)
