March 28.                       1 Samuel ch 7-9

PURPOSE OF CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The purpose of spirituality is to learn how to live according to the norms of the spiritual kingdom that you choose to align with. It is like here on earth that each country or kingdom has their own set of rules and living instructions. Violation of such code of conduct makes you a misfit in the community. For example, I am in the UK where they drive on the right but I know how to drive on the left from my country so I choose not to drive at all as I don’t want to learn driving on the right.  As we are talking of Christian spirituality, we will be discussing how to agree with Christ to live in the kingdom of God. There are some basic facts that one must agree with to become part of the kingdom of God.

The first is you must believe that God exists and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

2. You must believe that it is only faith in Jesus Christ that gives man the power to become a child of God. John 1:12-13

3. You must be born again   “Jesus answered, “I assure you, unless someone is born anew, it’s not possible to see God’s kingdom.” Nicodemus asked, “How is it possible for an adult to be born? It’s impossible to enter the mother’s womb for a second time and be born, isn’t it?” Jesus answered, “I assure you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:3–6 CEB. Unless a person is born again, he cannot understand the things of God because God is Spirit.

4. Believe in the Bible as the ultimate word of God. “Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character,” 2 Timothy 3:16 CEB

5 Receive the Holy Spirit into your heart and He will be your teacher to understand the bible and give you power to witness for Jesus. “The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you.” John14:26 CEB

6 Believe in eternal life.““For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NASB1995

7 Enfolded in Christ, you are a new person in a new kingdom of God. “Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 TPT You are now ready to learn the new way of walking in the Spirit fulfilling the desires of God to walk together with Him.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You God for the gift of Jesus Your Son, Your Word the Bible and Your Holy Spirit that teaches and empowers me to live as Your child. Say to yourself ten times today and as often as possible “I choose to be led by the Holy Spirit in all that I do”.
