““Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20:8–11 NASB1995

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Much as man is trying to forget God and make Him appear irrelevant to his existence, the more troubles he brings upon himself pointing him back to BASICS, GOD. In His Commandments to man, man is to rest. Rest is mandatory and not optional. Rest of soul and body. Have you noticed times that your body becomes weak and you are forced to rest it in sleep spontaneously anywhere and in any position? That forms a Power Nap that revives the body. The soul however has to be consciously and decisively made to rest. It keeps tossing about carrying the worries of life even while the body is asleep. This leads to all kinds of diseases that torment man. Perfect rest for man’s soul is in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the rest for the soul of man for He boldly says “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 NASB1995 So REMEMBER that you must rest your body and soul. The rest for your body is in sleep but the rest for your soul is in Christ.
Consider today how much rest you give your body and how much rest you give your soul. Also, where do you find rest for your body and your soul? For me, my body rests perfectly on my bed and my soul rests perfectly in Jesus Christ.
Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for making me aware that rest is a commandment from You and it is not optional. Teach me to rest in You. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you remember “I choose to cast my burdens on Jesus and find rest for my soul in Him”.
