GOOD DAY TO YOU: One desire is universal to mankind and it is peace. We want peace of mind and peace around us. We have our individual ideas of what can or will give us peace. We deliberately put whatever we believe will give us peace a prime position in our hearts. We spend all our energy and labour on such things only to discover that whether we have it or not, they do not give peace rather they keep driving us hard for more.
I once made my marriage the center of my life. Marriage was not as it is now in our own time. Divorce was a taboo then with serious stigma especially for women so marriage was a god. It never gave the security or peace we expected. Only those who made God the center of their lives were able to endure all the disappointments and stayed happy. Wealth is another God that takes a center space of man’s heart with deception to satisfy and fulfil. Solomon, the richest man recorded, never found satisfaction in wealth. He called it vanity.
It is only God who wants what is best for you. He made you in His image and no matter your state, until you make Him the center of your life, you can never be who He made you to be. If you put something else before Him in your life, it’s harder for Him to bless you. Putting other gods in the place of God is the reason for all the evils and troubles of the world for we aspire to be who He made us to be without putting Him where He should be for us to see and copy.
Today’s Exercise: Say to yourself ten times today and as often as you can ‘I choose to make God the center of my life today and always. Every other thing must resonate around Him’.
