SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

📖

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness (spiritual training) is of value in everything and in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”  1 Timothy 4:8 AMP

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Let us start with a conversation between Jesus and a teacher of the Law to understand spiritual exercise. Here it goes “A teacher of the Law came up and tried to trap Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to receive eternal life?” Jesus answered him, “What do the Scriptures say? How do you interpret them?” The man answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind’; and ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’” “You are right,” Jesus replied; “do this and you will live.”” Luke 10:2528 GNT Looking into physical exercise, we can learn and understand spiritual exercise. First, we engage in physical exercise with a purpose. It is the same with spiritual exercise. For physical exercise to produce results, one must be consistent. It is the same with spiritual exercise. The more you perform spiritual exercise, the stronger your faith grows. Also, no one can perform physical exercises on another’s behalf, the other person can only be an instructor. It is the same with spiritual exercise.

The only difference between physical and spiritual exercise is that physical exercise only benefits the body which is temporal. The benefits end when the body returns to dust. Spiritual exercise, however, produces benefits now and in the life to come. The benefits are eternal.

HOW DO YOU PERFORM SPIRITUAL EXERCISE?

In the encounter of Jesus with the teacher of the Law, Jesus taught the basic principle of spiritual exercise. For the Christian, you read the scriptures relating to what you want to be or what you desire, and see what they say. “What do the Scriptures say? How do you interpret them?” You put the scripture in your heart to interpret it. This you do by saying the scripture to yourself until it unfolds and gives you light. “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119 :130 NKJVGo and do what the interpretation says and you will confirm by the result that you get. Tomorrow, we shall discuss what happens when we consistently engage in spiritual exercise.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord that I can exercise myself spiritually. Say to yourself ten times “I live to exercise myself in godliness”
