“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The saying goes that the taste of the pudding is in the eating. I heard so much about a woman’s white rice and stew and I felt those telling me were exaggerating until one day a young friend of mine sent a plate of the rice for my enjoyment. I found that the description I have been hearing does not do justice to the rice. It is beautiful.

This my rice experience is nothing compared to the joy I experience when I do the word of God. You taste God by doing His word. You may read the word, have an intellectual knowledge of the whole scripture, attend programs and seminars etc. but until you take the word of God into you and do it, you cannot know the sweetness of God.

David the man who wrote Psalm 34, knew many disappointments and sorrows but he still was able to say “the Lord is good”. Trials and troubles are normal aspects of life in this incarnation but David told us how he overcame and enjoyed God in spite of all his troubles. He took refuge in God.

How do you take refuge in God?

You take refuge in God by staying your mind on His word or His name. The trials of life make a lot of noise to call for all your attention and we are all prone to fix our whole thoughts and attention on them. The voice of God however is calm and soft as wind but has all the power that calms our fears and takes our sorrows away. Let your soul hide in the word of God for protection and comfort. Do what He says to you and enjoy His goodness.  Do this and you too will testify that at all times, God is good.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord that You are good in all seasons. Help me to run to You at all times as my place of safety and comfort.
