THE EIGHTH AND TENTH COMMANDMENTS

“Thou shalt not steal.” Exodus 20:15 ; “Thou shalt not covet.” Exodus 20:17

👂🏽

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I was reading the reason for some war between two neighbouring nations that has taken so many lives on both sides with many others from other countries far from them who volunteer to help. I also read some civil wars within countries where they formed opposition parties killing themselves! What was the root of these wars? Coveting and stealing! One nation coveting what another smaller nation has and fighting to annex the smaller nation. Those in power in a nation steal the nation’s resources while the majority of the citizens are poor and suffering leading to rebellion and unrest. Do you see it? Even in families, coveting and stealing start a lot of enmity between siblings. How sweet and peaceful the world will be if man can go back to basics of God’s Laws.

Why do we covet and steal then fight and destroy each other? It is because we are not aware or conscious of what God has done for each person or nation. There is enough provision for every creature that we need not covet or steal from others. Look at the birds of the air, they are adequately provided for. How much more would God have provided for man made in His own image. Remember that God first created everything that man would need to live and be god over His creation before He created man. So there is no reason to covet or steal; man only has to raise his awareness of God to have peace and locate how to tap into His provisions for a happy life. We round up the commandments today with this: “What leads to [the unending] quarrels and conflicts among you? Do they not come from your [hedonistic] desires that wage war in your [bodily] members [fighting for control over you]? You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your lust goes unfulfilled; so you murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [the object of your envy]; so you fight and battle. You do not have because you do not ask [it of God]. [1 John 3:15] You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.” James 4:1-3 AMP

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for making me know that You provided everything I need before You created me. Let mankind, especially world leaders know this and stop the coveting and stealing that causes wars all around. Today say to yourself ten times and as often as a coveting rises up in your heart “I am fully provided for by God. My understanding is open to see my provision. I am happy and content”.
