THE GIFT OF GOD

“As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 5:19 NKJV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Aside from the gift of Jesus Christ that makes us children of God, this is a gift that all humans desire. The ability to have riches and wealth then have power to eat, drink and enjoy the fruit of one’s labour is a gift from God. When I consider this scripture, I appreciate that every day that I am able to eat, drink and enjoy the fruit of my labour, I have a good gift from God that I should be grateful for instead of complaining about the quality of the food. God fed the children of Israel with the same food for forty years in the wilderness and their clothes did not tear nor their feet swell Deuteronomy 8:4. Looking around, you will see many people who have all the food and money even with good health but the desire to acquire more does not allow them to enjoy the one they have. Lord God, I thank You for the gift of being able to eat and drink and enjoy what you have given me. I read many versions of our text today and this version makes it clear to any generation to thank God always. Listen,   “And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.” Ecclesiastes 5:19 NLT.  To enjoy your work too and your lot in life is a gift from God. If you are not enjoying the work you have now, appreciate God for it then ask Him to make you enjoy it. He will guide you to enjoy it or open other opportunities for you.

Today’s Exercise: Dear Lord God, I am sorry for taking the “simple and ordinary” things I have for granted so I don’t appreciate You for them. Help me to thank you for the gift of a whole life no matter my status. Say to yourself always (I thank You Lord for every little thing that I do and have in life. I appreciate that normal as they seem, it takes power to do them.)
