THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

“Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14 KJV

GOOD DAY TO YOU: The modern English versions of the bible put this commandment clearly. It is also a sin that has caused a lot of problems in homes and individuals. Heart aches, murders, embarrassments have resulted from the breaking of this commandment when a husband discovers that the children purportedly believes his own belong to another man. Sexual sin is particularly serious because reproduction is through sex. That is how life is multiplied on earth. Jesus put a dimension to adultery that makes everyone a culprit. “But what I tell you is this: A man may look at a woman who is not his wife. And he may want to have sex with her. In his thoughts he has had sex with her, so he has done a wrong thing.” Matthew 5:28 EASY. Adultery is a heart affair that man needs a saviour from.
Our biological makeup leaves man helpless. He sees a woman, even women too see men and lust after them in the heart. In either case, if opportunity permits, they would have sex. The sex drive is a strong one that only the spirit of God can root out of the heart of mankind. The solution to this commandment is a new spirit in man. Only through Jesus Christ can man have a new heart. From the bible and from experience, it is revealed that: “…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB1995 Faith in Jesus Christ gives man a new heart that conquers the old nature of man and makes him a new man that lives the commandments of God from within him. Faith in Christ kills the old nature of man and puts a new spirit in him.
Today, think of the things you do impulsively which make you sad afterwards. See how you sighed in need of help. Help is near you in Jesus Christ. Reach out to Him and ask Him to help you from your sin nature. He is willing and once He comes into you, you become a new person. We shall continue with this tomorrow.

Today’s Exercise: Dear Lord, I see how helpless I am to live the life I want. Your spirit in me disturbs me anytime I yield to do evil. I want You to come into my heart and deliver me from the Sin that holds me captive. Thank you Jesus for answering this request. Pray this prayer from your heart and see what happens.
