August 26. Jeremiah ch 40-42
NAVIGATING THE WILDERNESS LEADING TO LAND OF FREEDOM
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:1-2 ESV
GOOD DAY. Like we have seen, the path to freedom from any form of oppression is not easy. The first important thing is to know where your freedom is leading you to and the benefits of being free. Without these, you are most likely to go back to slavery when you meet with hardship. When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.”. Exodus 13:17 ESV. Hardship on the way could make you turn back. Have your destination in focus.
Secondly, you need to identify who is with you along the journey. I have found having God with me as the best in my wilderness journey. I do this by simply calling on Him and telling myself that I have God with me and He should guide me. I asked Him to lift the burden of the challenge off my chest and He did answer until I found my balance.
Pursuing freedom without having God with you is a life of fear and confusion. A national leader who is pursuing freedom from another without telling his subjects is setting them up for suffering. The leader needs to intimate them with his actions and the possible effect on them and each person will prepare his walk with God. Remember that when you pass through fire and water, none will affect you adversely if you have God with you. To all those in the struggle for their personal freedom, feel free to reach me and other counselors or support groups for support in your moment of pain or confusion.
PRAY: Dear Lord, I pray today for all those whose unrest in their oppressive situations has pushed them to agitate and start a move for freedom. Help them to know their reason for seeking freedom and carry you along in their pursuit in Jesus name.
