WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOURSELF?
January 20. Exodus ch 27-30
COMMUNE WITH YOUR HEART AS YOU LIE DOWN
“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.” Psalm 4:4 KJVAE
GOOD DAY. Years back, a lady said something about me that I didn’t like. When I heard, I planned in my mind how I was going to insult her and give her the picture of her life. I kept waking and falling into sleep planning how best I would approach her to make her hear the story of her life. That was the first time I became conscious of really talking to myself. I have now grown to know that each person communes with himself as often as space allows during the day.
What you say to yourself has power especially when you say it repeatedly with passion. Hear this woman.
‘“Suddenly, a woman came from behind Jesus and touched the tassel of his prayer shawl for healing. She had been suffering from continual bleeding for twelve years, but had faith that Jesus could heal her. For she kept saying to herself, “If I could only touch his prayer shawl I would be healed.””’ Matthew 9:20-21 TPT. This woman talked to herself about how she can tap healing from Jesus. She did it and got her healing.
“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good.” Psalms 14:1 NASB1995
You can see how and why evil is so much in this dispensation. Most people say to themselves that there is no God. Nations have become fools saying there is no God and removing Him from their agendas.
Hear Abraham talk to himself.
“And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?” Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.”
Genesis 20:10-11 NASB1995
He put a whole nation in trouble with God because of his talk to himself.
The communication you have with yourself matters. It controls how you behave and your moods. Be conscious and take control of what you say to yourself.
PRAY: Dear Lord, let your knowledge guide and guard what I say to myself.
