WHAT IS FAITH?

“Shall two walk together, except they have agreed?” Amos 3:3 ASV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Faith has been a tough topic to tackle over the years and probably will be till Jesus comes. Jesus Himself wondered if He would find faith on earth when He comes. “I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”” Luke 18:8 NIV

I have been asking the Lord for a living definition of faith for years. He gave me a definition that gave light and life to my understanding. He said “faith is agreeing to walk with God”. Faith of Jesus Christ is “agreeing to walk with God in Jesus Christ no matter what”. When the Holy Spirit gave me this understanding, faith made more sense to me and it is easy to live by faith. Amos 3:3, our scripture for today makes faith relatable. You agree to walk with God. 

How do I know God? You know God by agreeing that God exists. He told us who He is in His word.  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John1:1NIV

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”” John 4:24 NIV

God is the Word and God is Spirit.  Jesus gave further clarification in this statement: “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”  John 6:63 NLT

You cannot see God with your five senses but you can know God by the Word He has spoken. Read the word of God to know Him. When you make His word your own, you embrace His word, then you are set to walk with Him in agreement. That is faith. 

Today’s Exercise: Look closely in your heart if you believe that God exists. Everything has been rationalised with human understanding that only few people still believe that God exists. Say to yourself ten times today “I believe God exists and He reveals Himself to me beyond any doubt.
