WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD?
“God’s kingdom isn’t about eating food and drinking but about righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17 CEB

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: We have seen that spirituality is about life in the spiritual kingdom we choose to identify with. We have also seen that there are some things we need to understand and agree with to be in the kingdom of God as His children even while still here on earth. We also noted that spiritual laws are basic and like physical laws, they work for anyone who obeys them except that they do not give eternal life with God. That only happens to those who accept Jesus into their lives as Lord and Saviour. He gives them power to become children of God.
Today we will look at what the kingdom of God is and what it is not. “for the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking [what one likes], but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17 AMP The kingdom of God is not about pleasing oneself or pleasure or things we can quantify with our five senses. It is neither poverty nor riches; it is neither how large or small a congregation is; it is neither popularity or obscurity. This is quite encouraging to the lowly who know and walk with God.
Also, the kingdom of God is not in any particular place. “The kingdom is not discovered in one place or another, for God’s kingdom realm is already expanding within some of you.”” Luke 17:21 TPT The kingdom of God is not in any denomination or town or place of worship. Invitation to any place of worship or denomination is mainly for fellowship with each other.
What then is the kingdom of God and where is it? “For God’s Kingdom… is a matter of the righteousness, peace, and joy which the Holy Spirit gives. Romans 14:17b GNBDC And the kingdom of God is within you. “… the Kingdom of God is within you.”” Luke 17:21b GNBDC so says Jesus. If you notice, there is a world, a kingdom within you as a person. What you are thinking of or who you are within you are often very different from what you portray physically and your mind may be miles away from where you are standing. Spiritual kingdom has nothing to do with outward kingdom. At His trial before Pilate, Jesus talked about life in His kingdom. “Jesus replied, “My kingdom doesn’t originate from this world. If it did, my guards would fight so that I wouldn’t have been arrested by the Jewish leaders. My kingdom isn’t from here.”” John 18:36 CEB Tomorrow, we will look deeply into the kingdom of God in Jesus Christ so that our spirituality will be based on that. Before then, pay attention to know the state of your mind and what it tends towards. Whatever your mind tends towards is what rules you and that determines the kingdom to which you belong.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for making me aware of my mind and that wherever it stays is the kingdom to which I belong. Help me to keep my mind on You and all that You stand for. Say to yourself ten times today and as often as possible, “I consciously and decidedly stay my mind on Jesus today and always”.
