WHILE WAITING.

📖

“Look, this day your eyes have seen that the Lord delivered you today into my hand in the cave, and someone urged me to kill you. But my eye spared you, and I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my Lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed.’” ‭‭I Samuel‬ ‭24‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The watchword while waiting for God’s promised blessing is “Never do what is against the known will of God to get the blessing”. David was anointed king of Israel while Saul was still on the throne. He had to wait for about forty years before he could ascend that throne. For no fault of his, Saul labelled him an enemy and was after his life. David had no choice but to run into the wilderness to save his life. Once when Saul was pursuing David, Saul and his men were tired and they laid down and fell into a deep sleep. David had the opportunity to kill him there and then and he would become king. Instead of doing that, he spared Saul’s life because it is offensive for anyone to touch or curse God’s anointed. Exodus 22:28.

🤔

This is how you are to wait. When pressed further a second time that David caught Saul and his men in a deep sleep, David replied with : “But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?” David said furthermore, “As the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him, or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish.” ‭‭I Samuel‬ ‭26‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. David waited for God’s way of giving the throne to him. If you were David, what would you do? Will you take the law into your hand and go against God to get his promise? Think of this.

Today’s Exercise: Dear Lord, thank you for your love and mercy for the various times I have seen every opportunity of escape as your will. Please forgive me and restore me to your path in Jesus name. Say to yourself (I will weigh every opportunity against the word of God before I pursue it.)
