TRUE TO TYPE
“So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God]. Because of these [sinful] things the [divine] wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience [those who fail to listen and who routinely and obstinately disregard God’s precepts], and in these [sinful things] you also once walked, when you were habitually living in them [without the knowledge of Christ]. But now rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene (abusive, filthy, vulgar) language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its evil practices,”

GOOD DAY: Thank God that it is not just a new day but a new month. I pray that this month, you will see and put away everything that has disturbed your peace of mind. You see, it is neither any government nor life situation that is to blame for your lack of peace of mind; it is who you are or should I say who you allow to live inside you. Habits, perceptions and dispositions live inside you free of charge without paying rent or struggling for space as long as you don’t know their type. The day this scripture first came alive in my heart, I took notes of all the dispositions or all unwanted tenants of my heart. I realized the lies they presented that they were my strength. I felt proud and boastful each time I ‘succeeded’ in using any of them and noticed that my unrest was because they were struggling to find opportunities to be used. They were destroying me while pretending to be working for my good or victory. Do the same thing today so that today will be the day of your freedom.
Take the habits or dispositions listed in the scripture above out one by one and see which one is in your heart and your habits or character. Purpose to deny them power over you. Call them by name and tell them they have no power over you again. Talk to them several times until you feel a relief from their grip. It is tough but ask the Holy Spirit to help you. With each one that loses its grip, you feel joyful and relieved. When they are all out, and you become vigilant that they don’t take root again, you will know that truly, you are seated in heavenly places with Christ at the right hand of God no matter your situation or condition in this physical world. Make this first day of the month your day of open doors to peace and true freedom.
PRAY: Dear Lord, please make me truthful to myself in assessing the tenants in my heart that I have given power to control me. I want peace, joy, contentment and the fullness of Your Holy Spirit to control me. Thank You Lord for answered prayers.
