MERCY, THE REASON WE ARE STILL HERE

📖

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, Because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Any day you wake up and see the sun on this side of creation, that is mercy of God at work.  The dictionary definition of mercy of God is given below. 

Mercy is God’s compassionate, undeserved kindness that withholds punishment (the “not getting what we deserve” aspect) and relieves suffering, often rooted in His covenant love, steadfast faithfulness, and gracious nature. It represents an active, sparing compassion, contrasting with judgment. This is the dictionary definition of mercy. It is an attribute of God that spares mankind in general and each of us as individuals from deserved pain and suffering. God expects us to show mercy to our fellow man. The extent of mercy we show to others is the extent we shall enjoy from God. “because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” ‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

King David gave a great insight into the mercy of God when he chose to have God punish him rather than man. “And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.” ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭24‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you ever had to offend man or had your destiny in another person’s hands? You will experience how man demands full punishment without mercy.

Today, I leave you to think about these thoughts on mercy. If you are being judged by anybody without mercy and the pain is biting you hard inside, call to God today to look unto you with mercy and deliver you of your captors. We shall continue with the attributes and the working of the mercy of God tomorrow.

I pray for all those who are held captive by fellow men because of offence and the power to inflict judgement that they hold, that the Lord Jesus who is the mercy of God Himself will deliver you and relieve your suffering in Jesus name.
