Compassionate governance

COMPASSIONATE GOVERNANCE
“Every day I served one beef, six of the best sheep, and many chickens, and every ten days I provided a fresh supply of wine. But I knew what heavy burdens the people had to bear, and so I did not claim the allowance that the governor is entitled to.” Nehemiah 5:18 GNT
GOOD DAY: Let us see the example of compassionate governance from the word and compare it with what we have in our country. Nehemiah gave the people palliatives to ease their hardships at the time. Those who complained were taken care of and Nehemiah rebuked their ‘slave masters’ or oppressors. The peace of it all for people in the developing country to emulate is that Nehemiah did not charge any allowance on the state because the people were suffering and there was no point taxing them again. Huuum.
There is something to note though. The people were willing to work to rebuild their nation. Maybe it is the poverty that is making the common men too cheat and oppress themselves in developing countries but before we address none compassionate leadership in these countries, the people themselves must be compassionate with themselves. Let us now see what we can do to change our lot as a people from the hands of our none compassionate leaders.
First, begin with yourself. Have an idea of the kind of country you want. Decide what you part will be in building such a country or community. Think upon that till it becomes your nature.
Second, have an idea of how the compassionate leader should be. Think about it until it becomes your language. The mistake we all make is that we think about the bad leader and situation so much that the badness becomes our language. As you speak the bad language, creation gives you more of it. But when you speak a good language, you eventually create one. Choose your idea from Nehemiah.
PRAY: Dear Lord, make us a ready people for compassionate leaders in Jesus name.

Good one. It. Compassionate leadership begins with me showing compassion to my neighbour everyday. The more I do it, the more I become it, and then it becomes my nature. Just like Jesus.
