WHAT YOU HAVE IS WHAT YOU USE
“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23 TPT
GOOD DAY: There is a saying that what is not there cannot be counted. True, what you don’t have as treasure or property in your house cannot be counted. Even people not around at time of counting cannot be counted. It is the same with spiritual things. Whatever you don’t give space in your soul cannot be counted when the light of the spirit shines in your soul. Many years back, I chose to drive hatred out of my soul. I got a deep conviction of the scripture that whoever hates his brother does not love God. “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” 1 John 4:20 NIV. Each time hate tries to come into my heart, I resist it by saying to myself that I love so and so and I pray for the person. It soon became impossible for me to hate anyone. We are advised thus: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV.
You are to renew the treasures in your soul with the word of God. To guard the affections of your soul, you can also follow this counsel: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 NIV
REPLACE THE WORLD WAY OF THINKING WITH THE THINGS THAT ARE PURE AND TRUE. When these form the treasures of your soul, with the Spirit of God in you, when God stirs the Spirit, He will work with the good treasures in your soul.
Practice to be conscious of the thoughts and feelings of your heart today and write them down if possible so that you will see how near or far you are from the words of God.
PRAY: Dear Lord, thank You for opening my awareness to the importance of what I store in my mind. Help me to drop old familiar worldly thoughts and perceptions for Yours.
