DRAW NEAR TO GOD

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB1995

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: The more I look at the scriptures for our meditations during this period, the more I realise that living is all about thoughts. You cannot rise above your thoughts. We’ll discuss this at a later date. Our topic today however is about drawing near to God. From our text, you observe that God has thoughts. We have thoughts as well. We cannot see God but He has presented His thoughts to us about everything we can encounter in life. He gave the summary of how wide the gap between His thoughts and ours could be. When you see the gap between heaven and earth, then you can imagine how far we are from Him.
To draw near to God, you have to draw your thoughts near to His. You have to transform your thoughts through His word. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NASB1995
You have to renew your mind with the word of God. Keep the word of God in your heart by speaking to yourself until it becomes your thought pattern. The closer your thought pattern is to God’s, the nearer you are to Him. It becomes easy to know His decision on any issue and He will reveal His mind to you.
One scripture I keep in my heart always is “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 HCSB
I say this to myself always. I say that I love God and whatever happens will work together for my good because I am called for His purpose. This is my point of connecting with God in any situation. He keeps my mind at peace and guides me to His purpose. I love this scripture because it is general purpose scripture that makes life easy as it aligns my thoughts with the love and goodness of God to me. Choose your own scripture and say it to yourself every time till it becomes your response to issues of your life.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Father God that as my thoughts draw close to You, You draw close to me by revealing Yourself to me. Help me to stay my thoughts on You. Say to yourself ten times and as often as you can “I fill my thoughts with the word of God always”.
