TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?

“As a result of this many of His disciples abandoned Him, and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus said to the twelve [disciples], “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Simon Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You [alone] have the words of eternal life [you are our only hope].” John 6:66–68 AMP

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Jesus told the people listening to Him that unless someone eats His flesh and drinks His blood, he has no eternal life. Those listening to Him found it offensive and left Him. He asked the apostles if they too were leaving then Peter gave the reply which is our text today; “to whom shall we go”? I don’t know about you but
I have been there several times when I have been so overwhelmed and disappointed in my walk with Christ that I heard the same question in my heart. “Do you want to leave me as well”? And my response has always been “who else will I go to Lord? You are the only one who blesses without adding sorrow with it”. The solutions to my challenges had eventually come in ways and at times that I never expected.
It is okay to be weary at times for Jesus did not rebuke the apostles for being overwhelmed. He however checked their commitment to stay with Him. How committed are you to hold on to the ways of Christ till it yields your desire? If you have financial challenges, will you go the way of the world to resolve them quickly? What of barrenness or health challenges, will you abandon faith in Jesus for another god? Too many promises that you might have been taught to simply ask then claim and it is yours. It is yours indeed in the spirit realm but that does not mean it will manifest immediately. You may need to follow Jesus keeping the promise in view till it happens. Jesus gives peace that passes human understanding without measure as you keep following Him. Even when your desire is biting, He will give you peace and grace to keep holding on. Will you follow Him today?

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Jesus for showing me that Your message may overwhelm me at times. Help me never to leave You at such times. Say to yourself ten times today and as often as possible; “I will not let go of Jesus no matter the season”.
