HYMN: NEARER MY GOD TO THEE

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8 NKJV

1 Nearer, my God, to Thee,

 Nearer to Thee;

E’en though it be a cross

 That raiseth me,

Still all my song shall be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

2 Though, like a wanderer,

 The sun gone down,

Darkness comes over me,

 My rest a stone;

Yet in my dreams I’d be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

3 There let me see the sight,

 An open heaven;

All that Thou sendest me,

 In mercy given;

Angels to beckon me

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

4 Then, with my waking thoughts

 Bright with Thy praise,

Out of my stony griefs

 Bethel I’ll raise,

So by my woes to be

Nearer, my God, to Thee,

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Life takes on meaning the nearer it is to God. When anything takes us farther from God, no matter how good or laudable it is, it comes with leanness of soul. “And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.” Psalms 106:15 NKJV. This is why nothing satisfies when done outside of God.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for asking me to draw nearer to You. It is a great privilege. Tune my heart to be close to You Lord. Say to yourself as often as possible, (I choose to fix my thoughts on God always allowing Him to guide me.)
