THE TREASURE HOUSE OF MOTIVES

““You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.” ““You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:21-22,27–28 NLT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: One day, I was in the company of friends and we were all happy and sharing jokes and all sorts. There was one of them who I was very angry with and she was always coming to chat with me. I was laughing with her but boiling in my mind to really shun her off. She saw me as friendly but in my heart I was madam Anger. In the spirit, if God was numbering murderers, I was one at that time. How often have you had a different motive or emotion in your mind and acted differently but whenever you have the opportunity, you acted out your mind? Depending on how sensitive the recipient of your thoughts or motives he would pick who you really are and when opportunity presents itself and you manifest it, he won’t be surprised. Read John 2:24.

Every thought and motive of your heart finds opportunity to add flesh to itself and it will fulfill the saying “the word became flesh”. A good understanding of this will make you choose your thoughts carefully for your thought rolled over enough in your mind will take on flesh and manifest. Many challenges that we have in life are thoughts we had etched in our minds perhaps long time ago and we have forgotten about them but they are there waiting for the time and opportunity to become flesh. My experience of consciously choosing my thought is in the renewing of my energy when I become weary. I am used to thinking and chanting ‘In Him I live and move and have my being’ Acts 17:28. This has made it easy for me to overcome the greatest of challenges both physical and emotional. Practise it from today and see that it works.

Today’s Exercise: Thank You Lord for showing me that my life depends on my thoughts. Teach me how to think Lord. Say to yourself as often as possible (I pattern my thought on my expectations and not on my circumstances.)
