“And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Matthew 10:14, 16 NKJV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Yesterday, we started the talk on Let Them and Let Me for peace of mind in interpersonal relationships. You are not to force anyone to change or accept your opinion because God did not give us dominion over other men. Although we all have the innate tendency to dominate or rule others unless they willingly choose to change, you will be frustrated. This is why you should let people be but let yourself be as well. You must not give your power of choice to others because they are imposing their will on you. There are many questions to ask on this topic but the way to peace and progress is to know that your being does not depend on anyone.

When you let people be, your part will be to be wise as serpents and gentle as dove. There are lessons in wisdom to be learned from the serpent. Does that not surprise you as a statement from Jesus? You are not to be the serpent’s friend but you are to study some wisdom from it. You also have to be as gentle as the dove, meaning you are to study the dove as well. So the summary of the Let them and Let me is that you allow people to be, but you must be as wise as serpent and as gentle as the dove so that the being of others does not disturb your own inner peace. Today, I leave you to look at those things and people that take your inner peace and choose to leave them if they will not change but seek wisdom of how to be who you are while relating with them.

Today’s Exercise: Thank you Lord that you never leave us stranded in the midst of wolves. Teach me the lessons of wisdom that I need to learn from the serpent and make me gentle as the dove. Say to yourself as often as possible (I have the wisdom to live wherever I am without losing my peace.)
