BURDEN TRANSFER

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are overly burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭AFV‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: There are many things written in the bible that I did not know how to work out for a long time. One of them is our lead scripture today. I was at the train station one day with a heavy bag of shopping. It was one of those stations where there was no escalator or lift. My friend’s son saw me struggling to drag my full suitcase of shopping and came up to me and said “aunty, can you manage my bag and I will take yours down the stairs to the platform?” I gladly and thankfully took his light bag and he took my heavy suitcase. Why did my friend’s son need to give me his very light bag to take my heavy one? He did it so I won’t offer to help him with my heavy luggage knowing that I would want to assist him if I was not holding anything. Jesus wants us to take His yoke and light burden so we will have something to do and leave our heavy burden for Him to sort out. Actually, that is lesson number two. The first and most important lesson is that there is a relationship between the boy and me. He knew me as his mum’s friend. Do you have a relationship with Jesus? The relationship made us trust each other to exchange our luggages. Do you trust Jesus enough to take His yoke?

Now, what is the yoke of Jesus and what is His burden? His yoke is that you join your life with Him and be His disciple. His light burden is that you obey Him. Get to know Him by reading your bible and praying and sharing fellowship with other disciples of His. He speaks to your heart and you hear Him clearly. He shepherds you to peaceful places and makes your soul rest there. I have tried it and find that He leads me in ways that give me peace and eventually resolves my challenges or burdens. Will you try Him today?

Today’s Exercise: Thank You dear Jesus for showing me the way. Help me to follow You as You lead me to quiet waters.
