IT DEPENDS ON YOU

“One man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew he had already been sick a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”” John 5:5-6 EHV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I read the biography of a pastor who was diagnosed with a rare cancer that seemed to defy all known treatments. He was told that he had a few weeks to live as his pain was unbearable. When he heard the doctors’ conclusion, he said “God but I don’t want to die. I still have some things to accomplish for your glory.” He was on the bed of the sickness for five years and each time death stared him in the face, he kept saying “but God I don’t want to die.” Any little time that the pain gave him respite, he would write a book he titled “When God Disappoints You”. He was eventually healed contrary to medical expectations and is still alive now ten years contrary to doctors’ prediction.

There are many people who are suffering many adverse conditions for a long time now. Every day, the Spirit stirs up the water of our souls and asks “Do you want to get well?” We answer with all sorts of reasoning not knowing exactly what we want. Unless you take the responsibility for your life and know exactly what you want, the Holy Spirit or power within you cannot help you. Read the story in John 5:1-8 and consider where you too have failed to take responsibility for your situation this year and make amends before the year runs out.

Today’s Exercise: Dear Lord, I am so undecided about what I want concerning many situations in my life. I say one thing but deep down my heart, I doubt or am afraid. Help me to be one in mouth and heart about my desires in Jesus name.
