“If the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, you can be sure that he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house.” Matthew 24:43 GNT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Jesus taught us a powerful lesson here that should help us to guard our hearts with all diligence. Proverbs 4:23. Your heart determines the quality of your life. It houses your thoughts and feelings.

I was privileged to spend my young days in the two possible backgrounds (the lowly first then the affluent) and I found that every child is happy in his initial background and enjoys his early years until the evil hidden in the society sows discrimination and other bad ideas in his heart and he loses the love, joy and peace he was born with. He then starts guarding his heart not against the bad influence but against those who he sees to be more privileged to pull them down. So technically, everyone knows how to guard the heart but against what is the question.

If you have enjoyed the love, joy and peace of God, thoughts that will steal them away should be rejected once they come to your heart. Know the feelings of joy, peace and love they are your treasure. You don’t know when the thief will come in but be prepared to recognise the thief and resist it with the thought you wish to entertain. We’ll look at life examples tomorrow.

Today’s Exercise: How is your heart? Are you filled with joy, peace, love or discontentment, hate, envy and other such feelings? Then pray today that God should help you in rooting all the negative thoughts out. It is when they are out that you can enjoy your life as you were born to be.
