THE LORD’S DEMAND

““And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear [and worship] the Lord your God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul [your choices, your thoughts, your whole being],” Deuteronomy 10:12 AMP

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: God was very good to the Israelites. He showed them how far He could go to protect and provide for them from the Egyptians and other nations along the way to their promised land.

He has likewise done so much for mankind to free us from the bondage of sin and grant those who believe and trust Him everything they would need till they get to eternal life in heaven with Him. He gave His only begotten Son Jesus to come, live, die and resurrect on the third day to free us from the power of sin and death.

What does He now want from those who believe? Our text today spells it out. God expects us to love Him and honor Him everyday. We are to serve the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul meaning our choices, our thoughts, our whole being. It is important to serve God with our thoughts because whoever or whatever we think of regularly is who we shall yield to. You would have known and experienced that whoever or whatever you think about habitually releases his fruit in your life and directs your decisions.

I am happy, joy filled and at peace in spite of all the adversities I have had in life because I do not think about them but think about God habitually. Challenges come but they do not form my thought pattern. If you watch as you are reading your Bible, you will see that God redirects all challenges not to His child as a person but to Him because He lives in each of His children.

Are you worried, troubled and overwhelmed with the world’s challenges? Then you need Jesus. Invite Him into your heart and surrender your thoughts and cares to Him and He will guide you to peace, joy and life. God does not expect you to carry on in life by yourself. He does not test you by what you can do on your own by your power but by how much you can trust Him. He is there to help you but you need to invite Him in.

Today, ask Jesus into your heart as Lord and Saviour and surrender your life and concerns to Him. Open your heart to follow Him as He guides you through.

I pray that you will totally surrender your life to Jesus and let Him take control of your thoughts and cares in Jesus name.
