UNDERSTANDING ‘BE STILL’

📖

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

🤔

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Yesterday, we saw that to know that God is God, we need to be still. When I first came across Psalm 48:10, I studied how to be still from reading various Christian literatures as I was in desperate need to know God. Terms like meditation and contemplation were common instructions but the steps were complicated for me. I found that I was doing the opposite of what I was asked to do when I was being instructed to still my body. I moved at every little thing that changed around me. I will tell you how the Holy Spirit helped me out.

🧑‍🍼

First, He asked me to check the ordinary meaning of the word still. The dictionary puts one meaning as “Still” primarily means continuing in a state, remaining in place, or being silent/motionless. *️⃣

He then asked me to do the same with my thoughts. When the king’s guards remain still, they do not respond to any signal or touch. The same way I should fix my mind on a thought preferably from scripture and just allow other thoughts that come to pass through without distracting me from my fixed thought.

*️⃣

It was difficult at first but with time, I became used to it and whenever conflicting thoughts that cause me to worry and be anxious come across, I stay my thought on a scripture and allow other thoughts to pass by until there are none again left.

💡

I discovered that my mind was at peace and in a state of confidence, rest and assurance that God is in control. Try it and see if it works for you. The important thing is to determine that you want to be still for God to help you. Try it from today if you are still struggling to have your mind at rest.

🛐

I pray that you will hook your desire to scripture and stay your mind on it no matter what in Jesus name.
